At the Beach, (Even though its Over-cast)

Wow.

So its been almost two whole months since an update. I feel like that's justified. You might think its going to be a monster update. You would be mistaken for two reasons. One: I have to go work out and its something im incredibly dedicated to right now, and time is money. Two: I donthave nearly enough time to transfer the photos I have that are relevant from my BB since I have to email everything, and the new ACTUAL camera I have been using with fantastic pictures on it doesnt have the cord i need to connect it. I stumbled upon it since coming to Laguna and my lovely GF Julie and I have been using it to document our adventures together, since this has developed into a 3 entity couch-surfing adventure... but with actual beds now. Anyway, you'll have to wait for the photos.

For now, text, information, and storytelling.

I truly wish I had stayed more diligent with updates so I could include more detail. in the interest of economy I guess I will have to gloss over some great stories.. but who knows perhaps late at night the elves will work to fill in the blanks. We'll see.

When last I posted, June and I were still in the East Village. OMG I CANT BELIEVE THIS. Im so behind I meant to dedicate the next post completely to moving to couch #3!!!! Its was crazy. I have photos and everything. Oh well, Ill have to write a retro-grade post later.

Skipping to the big plot points: Clifton and I finished rehearsing the show for ArsNova. I think it was the same day we had our final rehearsal that June and I moved from the East Village to WAY back uptown close to my actual hood to stay with our friend Jason, and couch #3. Jason and his lovely lady Sam are amazing. They had a whole room and BED (repeat BED) for June and I, which makes sense since they are expecting sometime next year, and gave me the best sleep I had in weeks. That week was very chill. Cliff was in Chicago being awesome doing a reading, and I chilled for the most part. We might have had our last rehearsal a few days after I moved to #3, but its fuzzy now. Anyway, it was great, and Jason became employed helping us out on our show as well playing piano. That week flew by, and Clifton came back from Chicago, we did the show at NYU for our preview audience and had a blast. After a lovely after party at the bar or our choice, he flew off to Chicago, and I came to chill again. At one point early in the stay at Jason's, June got scared and clawed uncle Jason quite badly...
all was remedied though with some Magnolia cupcakes June bought for Sam and Jason. She is such a thoughtful kitty. Its the least she could do after the blades of fury incident.

After the wonderful time there, it was finally time for June to take a trip on an airplane. Again, that is a whole other story, but we got all packed up, and shed everything but the necessary items for our journey west, boarded the plane without too much trouble, and slept/ate McDonald's all the way to Chicago, IL. There, my family picked me up and we spent a lovely week in Clinton, IA with the Villas, who now miss having a furry friend in their midst, and visiting old friends. My brother Ryan and I made it into Chicago to see Julie's show there at the Northlight theater. It was GREAT, of course. Jules flew home for a few days after the show as over there, and then on to CA where I met her at the end of the week. Other exciting things that happened in IA included sampling the local pubs, hanging with one of my best friends Erin, and her bro Casey, celebrating Halloween in a mid-west gay bar with some friends.... I didn't know those bars existed in the mid-west complete with drag queens, and finally teaching a Contact Improv Dance master class at a local studio outside of Clinton.

Finally came the time for June and I to embark West again, and this time we flew from Chicago to lovely  sunny California! Upon our arrival, Julie picked us up, and June was thrilled and delighted to be re-united with her Mama again. We sped down from Burbank, got tacos, kitty litter, a box, and some cat food, and found our new home in La Mirada. June quickly sang some modified lyrics from Mama Julie's show: "Poooooor Ja-runiper Kitty.... has to bear the brundt of it alllllll! Poooooor Ja-runiper Kitty.... the only kitty in the Residence Inn! " We laughed and mewed a bit. June loved it there, and we came to enjoy it as well. The run La Mirada was a flurry of Elephant Bar cocktails, fish tacos (fush tucas), hairballs, shows, yummy restaurants (Ketchup on the strip in Hollywood Sunset Blvd.), Personal Training (where I met George and became obsessed with working out... in a good way), room service (SO NICE), free beer, and Knott's Berry Farm! June stayed clear of the roller coasters. She said cats were more attuned to the tea-cup rides.

Finally, the day of close for the show came in La Mirada and we said goodbye to our new friends at the In-and Out burger, and made our way down the coast to Laguna Beach.

Its cold here, but not NEARLY as cold as NYC ( haha suckaaaahhhhssss), so we are happy. We love the shops and the streets here, and the beach view is amazing. Our place has big lighted windows that keeps June busy all day. We are having a great time here, and we are so happy to be together surfing couches, beds, or waves or all three in the same day. Opening night was last night for the show, and everyone should see it. Its fantastic.

When it's sunny we hit the beach, play frisbee, explore the tide pools, or go hiking. When its crappy, we eat, watch TV, work out and play/write music. June mostly sleeps, sniffs the mini Christmas tree, or dreams about snatching birds out the window... just for fun (meeeeeooow).

Work out time, then a birthday party. Details later perhaps. See you soon, from a couch on the west-coast.

Z, June, and J McB.
